Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Graider is designed with privacy as a core principle. We understand that educators handle sensitive student information, and we've built our platform with multiple layers of protection to keep student data safe and ensure FERPA compliance.

FERPA Compliance Summary

Graider is designed to be FERPA compliant. Student names are automatically stripped before any content is sent to AI services. Graider does not store student personally identifiable information (PII). All AI-generated grades are suggestions that require teacher approval before becoming official. No AI provider receives data that could identify a specific student.

How Graider Works

Graider is a cloud-based web application hosted on secure infrastructure. Here's what this means for your data:

  • Student Name Stripping: Student names and identifiers are automatically removed before any content is sent to AI providers for grading
  • Encrypted Data: All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest on our servers
  • No Student PII Stored: Graider does not retain student personally identifiable information — names are stripped during processing and never stored on our servers
  • Secure Authentication: Access requires an authenticated account, ensuring only authorized educators can use the platform
  • Teacher Approval Required: All AI-generated grades are suggestions — the teacher must review and approve before they become official

Data We Collect

Beta Signup Information

When you sign up for our beta program through our website, we collect:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your email address

This information is used to create your account, provide access to Graider, send updates about the platform, and occasional product announcements. You can unsubscribe from communications at any time.

What We Do NOT Collect or Retain

  • Student names or identifiers (automatically stripped before AI processing)
  • Student personally identifiable information (PII)
  • Original student assignment files after processing is complete
  • AI provider API responses beyond what is needed to display results to you

AI Processing & Student Privacy

When Graider sends content to AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google) for grading:

  • Student names are stripped: We automatically remove student names and identifiers before sending any content to the AI
  • De-identified content only: AI providers receive only the student work content (without names) along with your rubric and grading instructions
  • Encrypted transmission: All communication between Graider's servers and AI providers occurs over encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS)
  • No AI training: None of the AI providers we use (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) train their models on API data
  • AI provider policies apply: Please review OpenAI's Privacy Policy, Anthropic's Privacy Policy, and Google's Privacy Policy for how they handle API requests

Data Storage

Graider stores your account data, rubric configurations, assignment settings, and grading results on secure, encrypted servers. Here's how we protect it:

  • Encryption at rest: All stored data is encrypted on our servers
  • Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers uses TLS/HTTPS encryption
  • Data isolation: Each educator's data is logically separated from other users
  • No student PII: Student names are stripped during processing and are not stored on our servers
  • Secure hosting: Our infrastructure is hosted on Railway, a SOC 2 compliant platform

You have full control over your data. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.

Third-Party Services

AI Providers

Graider uses multiple AI providers for grading (OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google). When you use Graider:

  • De-identified assignment content (student names stripped) is sent to the selected AI provider
  • Graider manages API authentication on your behalf
  • Each provider's data handling policies apply to content they process
  • None of these providers use API data to train their models

Hosting Infrastructure

Graider's backend is hosted on Railway. Your data is processed and stored according to Railway's security practices and our own data protection measures.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access any personal information we have about you
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Export your data (rubrics, assignment configurations, grading results)
  • Unsubscribe from communications at any time

Children's Privacy

Graider is designed for use by educators, not students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Students do not interact with Graider directly or create accounts. While Graider processes student work for grading purposes, student names and identifiers are automatically stripped before AI processing, and no student PII is retained on our servers.
